October 13th, 1984. The World Matchplay Darts Championship is being contested in the Fulcrum Centre, Slough. In a match between two former world champions, John Lowe and Keith Deller, Lowe became the first man ever to hit a televised 9-dart finish, the darts equivalent of a 147 break in snooker. It was a feat which earned him £102,000. Lowe went on to win the tournament and also to win two more world championships, making him the only player to be world champion in three decades.
