Slough's most famous connection with the small screen is probably Gerry Anderson, whose Century 21 Studios were based on the Trading Estate. It was there that series like 'Thunderbirds', 'Captain Scarlet', 'Joe 90' and 'Stingray' were filmed.
Slough has also made several appearances in feature films. The first film that Gerry Anderson directed, 'Crossroads to Crime', included scenes shot in Slough. 'The Family Way', starring Hywel Bennett and Liz Frazer, used the Ambassador Cinema in Farnham Road as a location, and Slough Railway Station could be seen in 'The Last Journey'.
Slough can also be seen in a couple of 'Carry On' films. In 'Carry On Abroad', the Wundatours shop is on Slough High Street. And in 'Carry On Girls', the Mayor's house was a house on Lansdowne Avenue, and the town hall was Slough Town Hall.
One of the most famous films to use Slough as a location was 'Dr Strangelove', which starred Peter Sellers. Scenes were shot on the Trading Estate, as producer Stanley Kubrick thought that it looked like an American Air Force base.
More recently, scenes for 'V for Vendetta' were shot in Britwell, and Slough has become a popular location for Bollywood movies, with favoured locations including the High Street, Upton Court Park and Baylis House.
