Full Description: The Congregationalists started in Slough in 1846 in a room rented from Mr. Luff the printer. In 1847 a site was acquired for £140 and the foundation stone was laid in 1852. The church was opened in 1853 at a cost of £2000, and had seating for 700 plus 300 scholars. The Rev. Charles Spurgeon preached there in 1858 and the congregation was so large that fears were expressed for the safety of the building. In 1972 the Congregationalists of England and the English Presbyterians combined to form the United Reform Church. In 1981 the building was demolished and was replaced in 1982 by Kingsway Church Centre. The building was constructed in brickwork with stonework surrounds to windows and stone cappings. The roof was slated.
