Full Description: This Coat of Arms was used from 1974 to mark the areas' transfer from Buckinghamshire to Berkshire. In 2003, Slough Borough Council stopped using the Coat of Arms as its' logo. The Arms includes many symbols of Slough and its' history. The blue section on the shield containing stars represents the astronomical discoveries of Slough resident, William Herschel. The black lines on a yellow background represent modern technology, and in particular, the manufacture of alloys. The swan represents the areas' traditional connection with Buckinghamshire and the flower in its' beak is a Mrs Sinkins Pink, a variety of flower which was first grown in Slough. On top of the helmet is a stag, representing Berkshire, and two golden brick hammers to represent the brickmaking industry of the area. A picture of the coat of arms can be found at sl-sl-cut0002a_coatofarms-i-00-000.tif.
