Full Description: During the first half of the nineteenth century, Slough had only a receiving office and this was subsidiary to the Colnbrook Post Office. On this side, Park Street consists of two- and three-storey buildings mainly dating from the 18th century. At ground floor they all appear to open directly onto the public footpath without any forecourt. The buildings have plain tiled roofs and where there is a second floor level this is contained within the roof space with dormer windows. Quite large brick chimney stacks can be seen projecting above the roof. The buildings have either facing brick walls or painted render on brick. Windows are generally painted wood with double hung sliding sashes and are typical of the period. |
