Full Description: The five mile section of the canal between Slough and Peachy opened in 1882 was one of the last to be dug in Britain. It has no locks or tunnels and gives access to approximately 2000 miles of inland waterways in Britain. On the right of the photograph can be seen part of a winch used for loading and unloading barges. On the bridge two horse-drawn wagons have stopped to be photographed. In the distance can be seen the bridge taking Middlegreen Road over the canal. |
