He was concerned that the Datchet Bridge was built too close to Windsor Castle. When the railway was seeking permission to build Windsor Riverside Station during the 1840s, the company was persuaded that they should knock down the Datchet Bridge and replace it with two new ones; the Victoria and the Albert Bridges. The Albert Bridge carried traffic to the south of Datchet while Victoria took traffic to the north.
