Full Description: The Holy Family Church was built as part of the London County Council Estate in Langley. Until the Holy Family Church held its first mass on 2 February 1957, Langleys estimated 1,600 Roman Catholics did not have a dedicated church nearer than St. Ethelberts in central Slough, instead congregations met first at a hostel in Colnbrook, then the Marish School, St. Bernards Convent Chapel and even in houses along Trelawney Avenue. The site was purchased in January 1956 and the foundation stone was laid by the Bishop of Northampton in January 1956. |
