Full Description: The Ramgarhia Sikh Gurdwara has been in use since May 1980, although it was not completed until April 1982. It had cost £275,000 to build, and on its completion was thought to be the largest and best-equipped centre of its kind in the country. Most of the work was done by volunteers, as many Sikhs gave their services free of charge. Many others gave large donations towards costs.
More than 1500 Sikhs and invited guests attended a ceremony to mark the completion of the temple, including local MP Joan Lester. |
