Diamond Road

by Margaret Coles

I was born February 6th 1940 and lived in 3 Diamond Road, until the age of twelve.I attended St Mary's C of E infants, then went to what was known as Ragstone Road Secondary School. My name then was Gloria Robinson, I later found my birth family, so now I answer to that name as signed. The father who brought me up worked at PETERS factory, my maternal grandparents owned an ironmongers shop in the high street just opposite Wexham Road. At the back of the shop he bred canaries, he used to swing a needle on a thread over the eggs to decipher which sex the birds would be.
