Chandos Street

My parents moved to Slough in 1958 when I was barely two years old, so my earliest memories start here. They opened a small furniture shop in Chandos Street, which is now part of the Queensmere shopping centre.Over the road was the main post office where the telegram delivery boys used to buzz in and out of on their BSA motorbikes.Next door was Moodys pet shop. They once gave me two tortoises. The M4 was being constructed then so all the traffic came down the High St. so it was loud smelly and very noisy. We only stayed two years thank God but have fond memories of Herschel Park before the M4 intrusion.
