So Here It Is!

Hardly a story to interest anybody else, but I am pleased to find that Upton Towers is still standing, although now called Elvian House. All I know about it is that I was born there on the 23rd September, 1939 when it was used as an emergency maternity unit. I still don't know why Slough was chosen, as my parents lived in Tottenham and moved back home immediately after the birth. There was another mother there, Mrs Clark, also from Tottenham, who had given birth to a daughter Joyce the week before I arrived. Joyce and I eventually found ourselves in the same junior school class, and for a short pre-pubescent time I found myself attracted to this young lady. However, I quickly reasoned that marriage could never have worked with such an older woman. Ironically I eventually married a woman four years my senior, and we are still together.
